Foundation 101—> Part 2

Some of you have been looking forward to FOUNDATION part 2…After showing you the different types of foundations and powders, I will give you my best advices as far as which one you need to use.

liquid-foundation.jpg

Oily Skin:  I usually recommend using a foundation that will not make your face look too shiny.

  • Product 1: MAC water based foundation select spf 15 liquid.
  • Coverage: Medium coverage with Matte finish
  • Extra: The best thing you can use to touch up your makeup if you have oily skin is a blot powder. I strongly recommend you get one!

  • Product 2: If you are not a big fan of liquid foundation, you can use MAC studio fix powder.
  • Coverage: Medium to full coverage (if you want less coverage apply it with a big face powder brush instead of the sponge)
  • Extra: You will still need to buy a blot powder for touch-ups.

  •  Product 3: Face and body foundation!!! Yes you can use it on your body too!Coverage: low natural coverage

  • Note: DO NOT USE THE STUDIO FIX POWDER FOR PICTURES! YOU MAY LOOK LIKE A GHOST AS IT REFLECTS TOO MUCH LIGHT ON THE CAMERA. Use the liquid if you think you will be taking pictures.

Combination Skin: You can basically use any type of foundation. It depends of the finish and coverage you are looking for. I am listing my favorite products for this skin type.

  • Product 1: Mineralize satin finish SPF 15 liquid. The micro-minerals make the skin look flawless!
  • Coverage: low to medium (buildable)
  • Extra: Use the mineralized powder (matte on top)

If you have combination skin but your nose tends to be a little oily sometimes, do not apply the liquid on your T-zone (forehead, nose and chin).

  • Product 2: Studio fix powder (see above) This the best powder for everyday use.

  • Product 3: Studio Tech or the stick foundation. They both look great on pictures!
  • Coverage: Medium to full with a powder matte finish.

Dry Skin: The best foundation for dry skin is actually from BOBBI BROWN!!!

  • Product 1: EXTRA SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing balm.
  • Coverage: Low to mediumThe only bad thing about this is that it does not come in darker shades…

  • Product 2: MAC Select Moistureblend foundation. Comes in darker shades!!!Coverage: Medium buildable coverage with a silky feel.

Under her unbrella…Rihanna eyes!!!

This one goes to my dear and lovely friend Cynthus a.k.a Halle…who’s been harassing me while I’m at work so I can tell her what color to use to have this fabulous Rihanna look!

rum1.jpg

Rihanna eyeshadows look like a mix of soft pink and light purple/lavender…I would use (All MAC colors):

- Eyelid: lower part cream color base in Shell (for the base)

-Eyelid: lower part color PIGMENT in Rose with brush # 242

- Crease: Stars and Rockets with brush # 224-

Crease: outer corner Nocturnelle with brush #275

- Highlighter: Pink opal pigment with brush # 252

- I would use for the lips Plum lipliner (softly) with Oyster girl lipglass

I will do this for you if you come visit!!! It’s my bday!!! It’s my bday!!! It’s my bday!!!

Fix +…Myth or reality???

This one is to answer Miss F. question about using a “fixer” on your face. The Fix + is supposed to give your makeup a long lasting look, it is basically like applying a top coat to your nailpolish to make it last longer…

m6gx_261.jpg

I strongly believe that it works but personally and honestly, I never use one! I do not use it because I always feel the need to touch up my makeup with some pressed powder or blot powder…

So to answer your question darling, you can use it but it is really not a must have for me!!!
